Brilyn & the Magic Thimble Experience

A 5-Day Literacy, Art, and Sewing Enrichment Program for Grades 3–8

📚 About the Program

Spark creativity, build confidence, and connect reading with hands-on learning in this one-of-a-kind school workshop experience. Inspired by the children's book Brilyn and the Magic Thimble, this 5-day classroom program blends storytelling, digital fashion design, pattern math, textile art, and beginner sewing.

Led by author and educator Shironda "Shay" Williams Davis, students gain exposure to literacy, STEM, art, and social-emotional learning through project-based lessons that build life skills and spark imagination.

📖 What Students Will Learn

• Character analysis & creative writing
• Digital design with Canva (mood boards)
• Math & measurement through pattern making
• Basic hand-sewing and textile embellishment
• Collaboration and confidence-building through the Classroom Quilt of Confidence

🎓 Daily Agenda (2-Hour Sessions)

• Day 1: Read-Aloud, Vocabulary & Quilt Art
• Day 2: Mood Boards & Digital Design
• Day 3: STEM: Pattern Drafting & Measurement
• Day 4: Textile Art & Sewing Basics
• Day 5: Showcase Day & Gallery Walk

🧰 Supplies Included

• Book copies, lesson handouts, and sewing kits
• Fabric, thread, stuffing, buttons, ribbons, and more
• Mood board templates, digital design slides, and certificates

School provides: internet-enabled devices, crayons/markers, rulers, scissors

💳 Program Pricing (Per Class Group)

• Option 1: Up to 15 students – $1,600
• Option 2: 16–25 students – $1,950 (includes assistant & added supplies)
• Option 3: District/Multi-Class Packages – From $2,500+

Total of 10 instructional hours (2 hours/day for 5 days)
