Registration and Welcome

  • Participants sign in and receive welcome packets.
  • Light refreshments and brief introductions.

Introduction to the Workshop

  • Overview of workshop objectives and schedule.
  • Introduction to the projects: T-shirt, elastic waistband skirt, and pajama pants.
  • Discuss the importance of choosing the right fabric and patterns for each project.

Fabric Selection and Preparation

  • Discuss different types of fabrics suitable for each project.
  • How to measure, mark, and cut fabric accurately.
  • Hands-on activity: Participants select their fabric and prepare it for cutting.

Understanding Patterns

  • Introduction to reading and understanding sewing patterns.
  • How to transfer patterns onto fabric.
  • Cutting out pattern pieces for the chosen project.
  • Hands-on activity: Participants cut their fabric pieces using the provided patterns.

Sewing Basics and Techniques

  • Review of basic sewing machine operations and stitches.

  • Hands-on practice: Participants sew sample seams and practice techniques on scrap fabric.

Assembling the Garments

  • Step-by-step instructions for assembling each project (T-shirt, skirt, or pajama pants).
  • Focus on proper seam allowance, sewing straight lines, and finishing edges.
  • Hands-on sewing time with individual assistance from the instructor.
  • Participants work on assembling their chosen garment project.

Completing the Garments

  • Continue working on the garment projects with guidance.
  • Troubleshooting common issues and providing tips for better results.
  • Adding finishing touches (hemming, attaching elastic, topstitching, etc.).

 Show and Tell

  • Participants share their completed garments with the group.
  • Discuss any challenges faced and how they were overcome.
